The Count Down is On!

We are now about 2 weeks away from move in! We can hardly believe it. Can it really be? The hardwood and the carpet has been installed upstairs. The light fixture, plumbing fixtures etc have all been put into place. We are hoping to call for a final this next week and start moving our things in on September 30th. We have been spending our evenings cleaning the floors and doing little odds and ends. The landscaping has gone in and we are waiting for our fence to get a pool final. We can then plaster the pool and take a swim.  Our rental has been overtaken by boxes and we are at the funny unsettled stage. Keep us in your prayers over the next two weeks as we wrap things up. It has been a bit crazy and at times overwhelming. We are ready for life to settle again and just enjoy!

The Home Stretch

Well we are on the home stretch! We are a little over 1 month from our projected move in date and we are still hoping to make it. Things are hopping around the Bangs pad. Cabinets, tile, wallpaper, finishing work etc is all going in. The landscape in full swing, the irrigation and drainage is in we are waiting for hardscape and plants to go in next.  It is quite fun to see it all come together. Jeremy laughs at me, because I get so excited over the finishing details.  It makes me giggle. I have loved everything the designer has picked out and it is like Christmas to actually see it all put into place.
Our rental has become a storage unit and we are counting days until we can make the move. The girls are very excited about the pool and their rooms of course. Jeremy and I are often blown away at God's goodness. We both had dreams of building our own home one day, but to see it become a reality is a bit overwhelming at times. Having the family down the street is the icing on the cake.

Finishing Touches!

Well a lot has happened since we updated our blog. The house is moving right along and we are finally at what I call "the fun" part. All the finishing touches are being put into place. We are two months away from our scheduled move in date and we can not wait! The exterior is taking shape and the interior is looking great (interior pics to come). Jeremy and Mark (our superintendent) have done an amazing job. The greatest thing is that even with all of the stresses of building our own home, Jeremy and I are still in love with one another. It has been an adventure, but there is no one else on this world I would rather journey it with. He has kept me in balance and I have caused him to think outside the box a bit.
The landscape is going in and the pool is just about complete. We can not wait to have you all over. We plan to be doing a lot of entertaining!

Sheetrock & Roll

What was just a wood structure is quickly becoming our home. With the sheetrock in, the character of our house has started to come to life. All the arches, detailed ceilings etc stand out so much more. We are looking forward to seeing the finishing touches installed. All the concept photos we have looked at for so many months are now becoming reality.

As soon as the sheetrock was installed, the girls began to mark up the walls. Not with silly pictures, but with God's Word. Addi and Ainsley picked out what scripture or truths they each wanted to scribe on their bedroom walls. They know that under, what will soon be paint, is the promises of their Lord and Savior!!

It is so much fun to not only watch our own home go up, but to see the progress of the homes of the other Massie family members. They are all so unique yet truly represent the personality of each family. We are all enjoying the process and we are praising God for His goodness to us.

The boring stage is over!!!

We passed the frame inspection! The guts of the house are all in and we are ready to sheetrock and roll!!!! We hope we have not missed anything major, but I am sure we will discover we have overlooked something along the way. This part has a been a bit boring for me (AMY) as I can not wait until the fun design details begin to be put into place. Jeremy was going to ring my neck if I put in one more plug or added one more TV niche. We are enjoying the process and keeping our fingers crossed for an August move in date.

The Room with the View

The room with the best view is our home gym. I told Jeremy, he now has no excuse not to work out.

We are making progress!

Despite the weather, we are making progress! With the roof sheeted, we were still able to get the mechanical guys and the plumbers to work some in the rain.  The roof will be weather proof as soon as the weather permits. The house is really taking shape and the interior touches are so much fun to see. We are loving the floor plan already, but we are a little scared about the utility bill. Ouch! We are having lots of fun watching it all come together.

Friends Condemn Building Project

Friends of ours, Brad and Tori Wible, go to check out the house and take a few pictures. We got some great photos of the house, but we also got some surprise photos. What we love most of all is the blue "Disney on Ice" hard hat worn by Brad. It made for a good laugh!!!!

With the rain clouds lurking above, they began to sheet the roof. We are moving forward. Jeremy is working hard to beet the weather. With a framing crew on our home and another framing crew on my parents next door, the hammers are pounding. The rest of the family is moving dirt and building walls as they prepare for their foundation work and wait on their building permits. By the sound of all the equipment, you would think we were taking over the street.  Well we kind of are.

Watch out the Massies are a comin!

Well as you can see, we are well on our way. It is crazy to see, that which we have only seen on paper, become a reality. We are actually building a house!!!! With the framing about complete we are hoping to have the roof on before the weather  hits too hard. This is a picture from the side of the house. The lot you see next door with all the lumber is my parents lot. They have begun the framing process as well.

The girls are so excited about their new rooms and love to give tours. They are anxious (as well as mom and dad) to move. Seeing the actual house structure go up has brought some clarity to their little minds as to why we sold our house and why we are living in a rental. I think they finally get it.
